The President of Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Moaddi bin Mohammed Aal Madhhab, recently signed an agreement with Dr. Mohammed Al-Otaibi, general supervisor of the Research, Development and Innovation Authority.
Titled “Governance of Financial Support for Scientific Research in Research Agencies,” the agreement aims to support and promote scientific research in line with the developments and objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The university will be tasked with developing “specialized programs and mechanisms” to improve the national research and innovation system.

Aal Madhhab said the university’s plan “focuses on supporting research and innovation and improving the outputs of scientific research and postgraduate studies through developing the environment and sources of knowledge and holding various agreements with the relevant authorities.”

It will also, he added, “unify the efforts directed toward researchers” and “fund scientific research with systematic support that contributes to the continuity of the research output of faculty members, as scientific research is a key driver of sustainable development in the projects and services provided by various sectors.”
