Thai parliament speaker praises Saudi Arabia for serving Islam, charitable work

RIYADH: The speaker of the Thai parliament, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, on Wednesday praised Saudi Arabia for the major role it plays in serving Islam and Muslims worldwide.

The Kingdom also makes key contributions to global development, the provision of humanitarian aid and charitable donations to the needy, he added.

His comments came on the sidelines of a Ramadan iftar banquet hosted by the religious attache at the Kingdom’s embassy in the Thai capital, Bangkok. Guests included the Saudi ambassador to Thailand, Abdurahman Alsuhaibani, diplomats from Arab and Islamic countries, members of the Central Islamic Council of Thailand, and the heads of other Islamic organizations.

Matha thanked the Kingdom for providing academic scholarships to Thai students, and expressed his appreciation for the support of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries.

He also hailed the Kingdom for the charitable contributions and initiatives it provides during the holy month, in addition to other programs and activities it organizes, as a result of which he said Saudi Arabia is a perfect role model for charitable work worldwide.
