Saudi Arabia on Saturday called for collective efforts to halt the rise in global conflicts undermining the sovereignty and stability of nations, state news agency SPA reported.

The comments were made by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji during his speech at the 19th summit of the leaders of the Non-Aligned Movement countries in Kampala, Uganda.

Elkhereiji conveyed the greetings of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the heads of state and government participating in the summit.

The deputy minister, who was speaking on behalf of the king, underscored his country’s firm stance against the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate ceasefire, delivery of relief aid, and prevention of forced displacement of Gaza’s residents.

Elkhereiji said that the Palestinian question will persist on the agendas of meetings until an independent Palestinian state is established, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

He addressed the increase in extreme climate conditions worldwide, and said the Kingdom has adopted crucial national and international environmental initiatives, including the Saudi and Middle East green initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as part of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The summit was attended by the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, and Saudi Ambassador to Uganda Jamal Al-Madani.
