A series of cultural events are to take place in Jeddah as part of a project aimed at highlighting historic areas of the city.

International and regional artists will bring together traditional and contemporary art during performances being held under the Balad Al-Fann initiative.

The travel-inspired Sindbad Exhibition, one of the event programs running until March 9, will explore the history and cultural heritage of the district.

And another display, commencing on Jan. 4, will offer visitors an insight into the concept of entities, whether they be natural, artificial, or abstract.

Other events will showcase works by regional and international artists at Bait Sharbatly, Al-Khunji Al-Saghir, and Aramco House, starting from Jan. 7.

An exhibition on cities located in hot climate zones will focus on the capitals of the Arab world, how their residents adapt to the heat, and architectural designs adapted to cope with extreme climates.

The Sama’a program will center on sound forms created through music and sound. It comes in the wake of a program-related Jan. 1 event to mark the Year of Arabic Poetry 2023.

A Voices of Al-Balad event will begin on Jan. 12, followed by the Jeddah International Jazz show on Jan. 25, a Talent Market on Feb. 1, and a Stars Alley experience on Feb. 2.
