Swiss Foreign Ministry to close Switzerland’s Embassy in Khartoum

Swiss foreign ministry announced today the closure of Switzerland’s embassy in Khartoum and the evacuation of staff and their families for security reasons.
“This was made possible thanks to a collaboration with our partners, in particular France,” the Swiss foreign ministry said on Twitter. It did not say how many people were evacuated.
Canada announced yesterday that it had temporarily suspended its diplomatic activities in Sudan. A decision has been made to temporarily suspend operations in Sudan, while limited consular services will continue, the Canadian government said in a statement, adding that Canadian diplomats will temporarily operate from a safe location outside Sudan
