Alexander Zemskov, a worker from Nizhny Novgorod, won the jackpot in the New Year’s drawing of the “Russian Lotto” lottery, winning 1 billion rubles (about $14 million).

A source at Stoloto, one of the largest lottery ticket distribution companies in Russia, said: “Alexander Zemskov found out about his victory when he and his wife watched the drawing process, which was televised live.
