After a disastrous honeymoon, an American couple is asking for millions in compensation

An American couple decided to file a lawsuit against a tour company in California, after their honeymoon trip turned into a nightmare that almost ended in tragedy.

The couple says that the Sail Maui company abandoned them in the middle of the ocean in Hawaii, while they were on a diving trip, so they had to swim to the shores of the beach.

The lawsuit, filed on February 23, says that the couple, Elizabeth Webster and Alexander Burkle, booked the flight on September 23, 2021.

The couple is asking for damages of $5 million, while the lawyer who appointed them says that they are suffering psychologically to this day because of what happened, and they are undergoing treatment for anxiety.

The husband stated that the matter was very terrifying, because the situation was open to all possibilities, including death in the middle of the ocean, in light of a trip that was supposed to be for honeymoon and recreation.

According to the tourism company’s website, the tour stops at several points in the ocean, in order to see dolphins and practice diving.
The lawsuit stated that at the first point of diving, the captain of the ship briefed the passengers on the safety procedures, but he did not talk about the limits of the diving site, nor did he indicate the timing of the return.

An hour after the start of the dive, the water became more agitated and turbulent at the dive site, so the couple decided to return to the ship, because the situation was no longer appropriate.

After 15 minutes of swimming in very turbulent waters, the couple discovered that the ship was no longer there, because it had left without noticing their absence.

At that time, the couple began asking for help, while the ship had left because it had counted those present and believed that the number was complete, despite the absence of the couple.

The flight crew could not accurately accomplish the task of counting those present, because many were moving on the ship, while the ocean was raging.
