Magnitude 4.1 earthquake hits northern Italy

The Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology announced today, Saturday, that an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the “Richter” scale occurred near the Emilia-Romagna region, in northern Italy, off the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
Rome – Sputnik. The institute’s statement stated that earthquakes were recorded in the main Italian cities of Rimini and Ravenna, and railway traffic between Bologna and Rimini, as well as between Rimini and Ravenna, was suspended as part of an automatic procedure to check the effects of earthquakes.
The epicenter was located 8 kilometers southeast of the city of Cervia, at a depth of 5 kilometers, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
According to the Italian Civil Protection Department, the earthquake did not result in any injuries or casualties.

Seismic activity continued in the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy for several days, and the authorities in some towns in the region near the Adriatic Sea closed schools, as a precautionary measure.
Today, Saturday, the authorities in the town of Gambetola suspended classes in schools, while the neighboring municipality of Cesenatico said that its schools will continue to operate, after conducting all the necessary inspections.
