Scientists have cautioned that the world should brace itself for the potential of human extinction as a result of the impacts of climate change.
They claim that global warming might become “catastrophic” for mankind if temperatures increase even more than expected, or if rising temperatures trigger an unforeseen series of events in nature, perhaps resulting in the extinction of all humanity on the planet.
Climate change’s potential to cause global societal collapse or perhaps human extinction is a “dangerously underexplored issue,” according to an international team of Cambridge University academics in a paper published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
