The Italian company “Ferrari” intends to expand its activity to produce fully electric cars for the first time in the history of the luxury car giant.
Reuters quoted reports that the company plans to expand the Ferrari Maranello plant in Italy, to include a third production line dedicated to electric cars, and a facility for research and development of batteries.
The reports added that Ferrari is expected to unveil its new strategy for the electric car industry next week on June 16 during Capital Markets Day.
It is noteworthy that the trend towards electric cars has nothing to do with sales, as sales of luxury Ferrari cars reached a record number of 11,155 cars in 2021.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna is working on the company’s plans for the next four years, as it has moved away from V12 engines towards electric, and the company is set to launch its first fully electric car by 2025, but it has a lot of work to do. them to accomplish this transformation.
Earlier, the Chinese market regulator said last April that the Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Ferrari would recall 2,222 cars in China due to a possible malfunction in the braking systems.
The State Administration for Market Regulation stated that the recall includes “458 Italia”, “458 Speciale”, “458 Speciale A”, “458 Spider”, “488 GTB” and “488 Spider”, in addition to cars imported from March. 2010 and March 2019, according to Reuters.
