A woman has dropped a lawsuit she had filed against American singer Bob Dylan, accusing him of sexually assaulting her nearly 60 years ago, the lawyer for the Nobel Prize-winning singer announced Thursday.

Lawyer Oren Snyder said in a statement to the media: “This case is over, we are happy that the plaintiff has retracted this farce,” considering that the mere opening of this file is “shameful.”

Ahead of a hearing scheduled for this week in a New York court, the lawyer highlighted emails showing “inconsistencies” in the charges against Dylan and the suspicion that the prosecutor had removed these elements that could exonerate the folk rock singer.

Lawyers for the plaintiff, whose name was kept confidential, did not respond to an attempt to contact them Thursday evening by AFP.
The plaintiff, referred to by her initials “JS” in the lawsuit, alleged that Dylan sexually assaulted her during the six weeks between April and May 1965 when she was 12 years old at the time.

The lawsuit, which accused Dylan of causing bodily harm to the young woman, stated that the singer “used his position as a musician to provide alcohol and drugs to (JS) and sexually assaulted her several times.”
Dylan (81 years), who won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature for “composing new poetry in the field of traditional American song”, is considered one of the most prominent singer-songwriters of all time. and Like a Rolling Stone.
