Today, Monday, the American “YouTube” website responded to the demands of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to delete ads for it, which it considered inconsistent with its values.
A YouTube spokesperson in the Middle East announced in statements to the Saudi news channel, Al-Sharq, that the inappropriate ads that appeared to users of the site inside the Kingdom have been removed.
He added, “The accounts of advertisers who violate the platform’s strict policies have been closed.” Inappropriate content, and another 125.6 million ads for inappropriate content.
Yesterday, Sunday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia warned YouTube against publishing advertisements that violate Islamic and societal values and principles, directed to its users within its territory.
And the Saudi “Audio-Visual Media” and “Communications and Information Technology” authorities indicated in a statement, yesterday evening, Saturday, that “It was noted that “YouTube – affiliated with the American company Google” displayed ads directed to its users inside Saudi Arabia, whose broadcast included content that contradicts Islamic and societal values and principles, and in violation of Islamic and societal values and principles. to the media content controls in the Kingdom and the platform’s policy.
The two bodies indicated that they had asked YouTube to remove these ads and abide by the regulations, and that “its commitment will be followed up, and in the event that the violating content continues to be broadcast, the necessary legal measures will be taken, in accordance with the communications and audio-visual media regulations.”
