A surveillance camera showed a thief stealing a watch from a tourist who was sitting in a cafe in Italy, before deciding to return it to him, according to the British newspaper, The Sun.
Surveillance camera footage documents a Swiss tourist sitting comfortably in a café in Piazza Unita in Trieste, northwest Italy. Then a thief surprised him from behind, threatening him with a knife and ordering him to remove his watch.
After he stole the watch, he quickly left the place for fear of being chased by the police. But the surprise is that the thief decided after a few seconds to return to return the stolen watch and apologize to the tourist.
Rapina ad un turista svizzero ad un caffè di Piazza Trieste e Trento: pistola alla testa per portargli via l’orologio e poi glielo riconsegnano perché vale poco. The video was posted on social media by Francesco Borelli, a member of a local council in the Campania region.
Borelli said, on his Twitter account, that it was later found that the thief had returned the watch to the Swiss tourist after he found out that it was “cheap and without value.”
The thief believed it was a Richard Mille watch, which can sometimes be worth millions of dollars.
