The San Fermin celebrations in the Spanish city of Pamplona ended after a week that witnessed daily shootings of bulls that left 52 injured, including five who were gored, without any serious injuries.

At eight in the morning every day (06:00 GMT), hundreds of adventurers were trying to get as close as possible to six fighting bulls, wearing white shirts and red scarves, during an 850-meter race in the alleys of the city, which attracts tourists from all over the world.

Following the last race, which lasted more than two minutes on Thursday morning, six men were taken to hospital, regional authorities announced in a statement, bringing to 52 the number of people treated in hospitals during the festivities, including three Americans and a Frenchman.
While most injuries were bruises, broken bones or injuries from falls, five men were gored, two of whom remain in hospital in Pamplona.
During the last edition in 2019 of the annual festival, which was famous, especially after it was mentioned in Ernest Hemingway’s 1926 novel entitled “The Sun Also Rises,” eight people were gored.

These feasts of Saint Fermin, patron saint of Navarre, go back to the Middle Ages and are interspersed with religious processions, concerts and bullfighting.

For a week, hundreds of people run in front of the bulls in the streets of Pamplona, sometimes risking their lives.

Since 1911, these events have claimed the lives of at least 16 people, most recently in 2009.
