US MQ-9 Reaper drone crashes in Romania

Romanian Defense Minister Vasili Denko announced today, Thursday, that an American drone “MQ-9 Reaper” crashed in Romania, near the Cambia Torze air base, where American soldiers are stationed.

Denko told Digi-24 that the drone was on a training mission: “There was no damage, it fell in a field, where there are no residential areas, and now the Americans are doing the first analysis … while these drones are used for training. We are training. Together, us and the Americans, on these planes.”

According to the minister, the plane was under the control of the US military who conducted the exercises, so they are trying to find out the causes of the accident.
He pointed out that Romania does not use these planes for military missions, but rather uses them for surveillance, and these planes are used for training.
He concluded by saying that the causes of the accident have not yet been determined, but in most cases the cause is technical problems in addition to the human factor.
