Afghan-American novelist Khaled Hosseini has announced that his daughter Haris has become a transgender person.

The author of popular novels such as “The Kite Runner” and “A Thousand Splendid Suns” said on Wednesday he was proud of them.

Hosseini tweeted: “Yesterday = my daughter Haris appeared as a transgender. I have never said I am more proud of her. She taught our family so much about courage and truth. I know that this process was painful for her. Transgender people are exposed to it. “But she is strong and brave,” he added.

In another tweet, he stressed that the family supports Haris’ decision as a transgender woman, and will be with her on this new journey.

The novelist commented on his photo with a guard, “I love my daughter. She is beautiful, wise and wonderful. I will be by her side every step of the way. Our family is behind her.”
