The 2022 World Cup in Qatar will witness the introduction of a new service in the tournament, making it the first World Cup in which this service appears.
According to what was announced by the FIFA website, this edition of the tournament will see the implementation of an independent diagnosis and rehabilitation service for concussion cases.
This system, which is based on the principle of “suspicion and protection”, will provide an assessment based on the data of any player who suffers a head injury and recommendations aimed at returning to sports made by experts specializing in this type of injury.

During the symposium, FIFA indicated that its International Council agreed to make one substitution resulting from a concussion of any player during a single match, regardless of the number of substitutions made until the moment of injury.
The statement stated that there will be an immediate return panel, which will enable the doctors of the teams to know how the injury occurred, in addition to the presence of a medical coordinator for the International Federation and an injury observer.
The medical coordinator will be present in all stadiums to supervise the medical services inside the stadiums, and the injury monitor will review them via video, which will enable him to alert the FIFA medical coordinator of the possibility of a serious injury.
