Only two days after he was released from prison on a presidential pardon, an Algerian in the northeastern province of Guelma killed a sheep dealer for trying to steal a sheep for Eid sacrifice.
According to the Algerian newspaper Akher Saa, the crime took place yesterday, Thursday, and a man was killed in the livestock market in the industrial area of Guelma.
The crime took place after a fight broke out between the killer and the 50-year-old victim.
The victim had discovered the process of stealing a sheep from his sheep for sale, to enter into an argument with the thief, who security sources said was a beneficiary of the recent presidential pardon.
The killer stabbed the seller several times with a knife throughout the body, to be taken to the hospital, where he breathed his last from his severe injuries.
It is noteworthy that, last Monday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune issued 5 pardon decrees for thousands of prisoners of several categories, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the country’s independence from French colonialism on July 5, 1962.
The presidential pardon decrees range from release to commutation of sentences.
