A man known as “Joy Chestnut” won a hot dog eating contest after devouring 63 sandwiches in ten minutes.
This tournament is held annually in Coney Island, New York, on the day of the American Independence Day.
Chestnut scored his 15th victory in this event, but failed in Monday’s competition to achieve the record he set in 2020 when he devoured 76 whole hot dogs in ten minutes.
The man apologized to the public, assuring them that his performance would be better next year, according to “AFP”.
Chesent indicated that he trains by eating “hot dogs” constantly, in addition to participating almost weekly in eating competitions centered on this famous American sandwich.
He confirmed that he will refrain from eating for a whole day after his participation in the competition.
Chestnut had won a prominent victory in the famous hot dog eating competition, which is organized annually on July 4, as he finished the competition by a large margin over his competitors.
Second place in Monday’s competition went to Jeffrey Esper, who devoured 47.5 “hot dogs”, while third place went to James Webb, who consumed 41 sandwiches.
“Joe Chesnt is an out-of-the-world force by defying the laws of physics,” said contest host George Shea.
In the women’s category, Miki Sudo won first place after devouring forty “hot dogs” in ten minutes.
Sudou, who did not participate in last year’s competition because she was pregnant, was unable to set her previous record of 48 sandwiches.
Competitors from across the United States and as far afield as Australia tend to put hot dogs in water or soda to make it easier to swallow quickly without choking.
