France’s first symbol is corroded with 68 flaws threatening the structure

French reports revealed a very bad case of one of the most famous towers in the world, which often symbolizes the beauty of the French capital, Paris, as many associate the Eiffel Tower with the beauty of the city of perfumes.
Reports circulated by French media outlets, such as “Marianne” magazine, confirmed that the Eiffel Tower in Paris was in poor condition and corroded from the inside, noting that experts emphasized the need to dismantle and restore it.
And “Astra Herald” quoted from the previous source information that the tower will be repainted for the Olympic Games to be held in Paris in 2024, despite “the insistence of experts on a complete dismantling and repair of the structure,” as experts confirmed that “repainting only leads to exacerbation of erosion.
“If Gustave Eiffel [the French architect who designed the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty] had visited the site, he would have had a heart attack,” said an unnamed manager at the tower.

In preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games, the tower will be repainted at a cost of 60 million euros, which is the 20th repaint in the history of the tower.

Reports revealed that Sete, which operates the tower, which is 99% owned by Paris City Hall, does not want to close the facility for a long time due to the loss of tourism revenue, as the tower receives about 6 million visitors annually, which makes it the fourth most Cultural sites visit in France after Disneyland, Louvre and Versailles Palace.

An expert report on the condition of the tower in 2010 stated that the company should re-examine the condition of the tower and develop a new maintenance policy.
In 2014, a report showed that the tower had cracks and rust, and a third report submitted in 2016 revealed 884 defects, including 68 that were said to pose a threat to the “durability” of the structure.
