The Palestinian Foreign Ministry calls on America to pressure Israel to stop excavations at the bottom of Al-Aqsa

Today, Sunday, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community and the United States to pressure Israel to stop the excavations it is carrying out under and around the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The ministry said in a statement that there should be a pressing international position to stop “colonial excavations under Al-Aqsa and its surroundings before it is too late,” according to the Palestinian News Agency.
The statement called for forcing Israel to abide by the status quo at Al-Aqsa and to respect the powers and responsibilities of the Islamic Endowments Department.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized in the strongest terms the “Judaization” excavations carried out by the occupation authorities and their competent departments under and around the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The ministry said that the Israeli excavations targeted the mosque’s foundations and “falsified its features… in line with the narratives and ambitions of the occupation.”
The Foreign Ministry warned of “dangers to Al-Aqsa, especially the mosque, which is located under the Al-Qibli prayer hall,” noting cracks and falling stones from its columns.
The Islamic Endowments Department had warned of the continued fall of stones from the pillars of the old Al-Aqsa Mosque, “without knowing the reasons.”
