Nominations open for the “Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity 2023”

On Friday, the organizing committee of the “Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity” announced the opening of nominations for the fourth cycle of the award, noting that this will continue until October 31, 2022.

Zayed for Human Fraternity is an independent global award that honors individuals and entities that make great contributions towards human progress and peaceful coexistence.

The award was established in 2019 after Pope Francis and Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, signed the historic “Human Fraternity Document” in Abu Dhabi.

Counselor Mohamed Abdel Salam, Secretary-General and member of the jury for the 2023 Prize, said that the committee looks forward to identifying the personalities and bodies that have effectively contributed to finding pioneering solutions to contemporary challenges in the field of promoting human brotherhood.

In addition to Counsellor Abdessalam, the 2023 Independent Jury includes other members: UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos, former Vice-President of Costa Rica Epsy Campbell-Barr, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle; 2015 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Widad Bouchamaoui.

Nominations may be submitted by qualified candidates within the following categories: Members of Governments; current and former heads of state; Parliament members; presidents of the supreme courts; senior executives of the United Nations; heads of international NGOs; university presidents; influencers, leaders and thinkers; And former honorees of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity.

Candidates can also submit their nominations through the official website of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity: zayedaward.org.

The award will honor the winners during the annual ceremony to be held on February 4, 2023, the International Day of Human Fraternity recognized by the United Nations, which also coincides with the anniversary of the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity.

It is noteworthy that among the previous honorees of the award are Pope Francis, Pope of the Vatican, and Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb (Honorary); UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and anti-extremist activist Latifa Ibn Ziaten; And King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of the Kingdom of Jordan and his wife Queen Rania Al Abdullah and the Haitian humanitarian organization Vocal.
