Ethical allegations have ended the reign of WWE strongman Vince McMahon, who resigned today as CEO and chairman of the WWE after 42 years.
A statement from the organization stated: “Due to the allegations made regarding Vince McMahon and talent manager John Laurinaitis, and accordingly, Vince McMahon voluntarily relinquishes his responsibilities as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors until the completion of the investigation.”
He added, “McMahon will retain his role and responsibilities related to (WWE) creative content during this period, and will remain committed to collaborating with the company.”
The organization’s board of directors also decided to appoint Stephanie McMahon as interim CEO and interim president of the company.
Press reports had indicated that McMahon was involved in a scandal that was revealed earlier, related to his payment of 3 million dollars to force a female employee to remain silent after an affair with her.
