British police on Monday charged Oscar-winning American actor Kevin Spacey with allegations of sexual crimes, after prosecutors brought the charges last month to appear in court next Thursday.

London Police said: “Kevin Spacey Fowler, 62, has been formally charged today (Monday 13 June) with four counts of sexual assault against three men. He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in total sexual activity without their consent.”
“He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court, at 10 am (0900 GMT) on Thursday, June 16,” she added, according to Reuters.

Police say the alleged attacks took place between March 2005 and April 2013, and that they are four attacks in the capital and one in Gloucestershire, targeting a man now in his forties and two men who are now in their 30s.
In early June, Spacey said that he “will voluntarily go to Britain as soon as this can be arranged,” in a statement carried by the “Good Morning America” program.

He added, “I very much appreciate the statement of the Royal Prosecution Service, which was keen to remind the media and the public that I deserve a fair trial and that I am innocent until proven otherwise.”

“While I am outraged by their decision to proceed, I will voluntarily come to the UK as soon as this can be arranged and defend myself against these charges, of which I am confident I will prove my innocence.”
