After he tried to storm the wedding of his ex-wife, American pop star Britney Spears, a US court formally charged Jason Allen Alexander with a “felony stalking”, after the move he made and transmitted it live via Instagram.

Britney Spears and her fiancé Sam Asgari were preparing to marry, Thursday, at her home in Thousand Oaks, California, when the proceedings were halted due to an attempt by Jason Alexander, a childhood friend of the 40-year-old singer, whom she married for a very brief period in 2004, to storm the event, which called for police intervention.

According to court documents issued by the Ventura County Court, Alexander was charged with felony stalking, as well as trespassing, vandalism and battery.
Spears’ 40-year-old Louisiana ex-husband, who appeared in court via Zoom from prison, has pleaded not guilty to the charges, AFP reported.

A judge issued an order requiring Alexander to stay within 100 yards (91.4 meters) of the Spears, and bail was set at $100,000. The next hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Spears’ attorney, Matthew Rosengart, said he was “delighted” with the way police handled Alexander’s intrusion into the wedding, saying: “This is serious (…) it was an intrusion as we’ve all seen shockingly.”
Spears’ wedding to Ali Asgari was not widely followed, with news of the occasion only being released hours before the scheduled date.

The wedding was attended by a constellation of stars, such as Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton and Donatella Versace, who designed the wedding dress.

Last November, a Los Angeles judge terminated the controversial guardianship of the star, who was held by her father, Jamie Spears, who had managed her life and her multi-million dollar property for 13 years.
