Several Arab countries decided to ban the screening of the animated film Lightyear, which sparked widespread controversy in the Arab world because of a kiss between two explicit lesbian characters.
Disney refused to delete these scenes that contain an explicit orientation to homosexuality, as it had previously rejected the request of some countries for several films containing scenes between lesbian characters.
Among the countries that chose to ban, Kuwait, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper website, while the UAE went to show the film under the “PG” rating, meaning it must be watched under family supervision for those under 12 years old.
The film deals with the story of space keeper Buzz, who appeared in the famous “Toy Story” Disney series, starring Chris Evans, who provides the voice performance of the film’s hero, buzz.
The animated film Toy Story 4, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Film, achieved revenues of more than one billion dollars, and the film included the voices of a distinguished group of actors: Tom Hanks, Annie Potts, Keanu Reeves, Patricia Arquette, Joan Cusack, Kristen Schaal, Tim Allen, Laurie Metcalfe, Bonnie Hunt, Jodi Benson, Laurie Allen, Jeff Garlin, Blake Clark, Bud Lucky, Estelle Harris, Jeff Pidgeon.
