After months of promoting it, and waiting for it by the children’s audience, the new “Disney” movie surprised everyone by containing controversial footage, which led to the ban of its showing in a number of Arab countries.

After a long wait, the giant Disney announced the release date of the upcoming movie “Light Year”, a movie about the life of Buzz Lightyear, based on the famous “Toy Story” movie.

The controversial scene

The children’s movie “Light Year” includes a scene of a “gay” kiss between two women, which sparked a great debate around the world, especially since the movie is dedicated to the category of children.

Disney removed the clip in the last version of the movie last March, but great “internal” pressures forced the company to return the clip.

According to the Deadline website, several Disney officials criticized the decision to remove the clip, stressing that the company should adopt more accepting attitudes with homosexual scenes in children’s films.

These pressures forced Disney’s decision-makers to repeat the controversial scene in the latest version of the movie, which is shown in theaters around the world.
boycott

And the Media Regulatory Office in the UAE announced that the film, scheduled to be released in cinemas starting from June 16, was not granted permission to show in all cinemas in the Emirates, for violating the standards of media content in force in the country.

The office confirms the commitment of all films in cinemas in the country to follow-up and evaluation before the date of its presentation to the public to ensure the safety of the circulated content according to the appropriate age classification.

The UAE was preceded by Arab countries in boycotting the film, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
