Zhukra Pavlova, an endocrinologist at the Center for Research and Education of Moscow State University, spoke about the need to abandon a habit created by the West while watching movies.
“Russians used to go to the cinema and watch movies with crunchy popcorn,” Pavlova said. Noting that this traditional custom came to our country from the West.
She said: There was no such culture in our country. Nobody ate popcorn while watching movies, that’s a Western custom. At the same time, she warns that eating popcorn while watching movies is “extremely harmful.”
She said: Any popcorn is harmful to health, as sweet promotes the accumulation of calories and fatty tissue, and salty stimulates high blood pressure. In addition, the person drinks popcorn with some sweet soft drinks, and after it merges with the film, he does not understand how much he eats, and this leads to great damage.
The specialist advised replacing popcorn and carbonated water with unsweetened drinks: such as water, herbal tea or only tea without adding anything. Note that there are no dried fruits, nuts, candy or sugar. Only drinks on their own are the healthiest alternative to popcorn.
