A man in Kansas City, Missouri, has shot a barber because he was not satisfied with his haircut.
The accused, 33-year-old Vernie Dickens, was angry about his haircut the day before the shooting and decided to return to the barbershop on June 2 in order to fix the cut, according to the local American newspaper, “Kansas City Star”.
When Dickens arrived at the shop, he did not find the barber who had cut his hair, but there was the owner of the shop, Drac Morph, who spoke to him.
Morph told Phryne Dickens to sit down, to which the latter responded aggressively and started screaming, then fired two shots at Morph, and eyewitnesses reported that there were many children in the barber shop at the time.
Drake Morph said in statements to the “Kansas City Star” newspaper that he was trying to escape from Fernie Dickens when he was hit in the back and fell to the ground, and he was trying to jump over the fence, but Dickens stood on top of him and was going to shoot him for a third time, had his gun not broken down and customers intervened to save the situation They held him and held him until the police arrived at the scene.
Murph confirmed that he was afraid that Verney Dickens was about to “execute” him, as he put it to investigators, saying: “It was a horrible situation, as I lay there with a gun pointed at my head.”
Barber shop owner Drac Morph is currently recovering, after a single bullet went through his spine.
Verney Dickens is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail, on $75,000 bail.
Court documents show that Dickens has been charged with first-degree assault and illegal use of weapons, as well as two counts of armed criminal activity.
