One night in March 1922, the family of a German farmer was brutally murdered in a barn in their home, in an incident considered one of the most famous mysteries in German history, as it has not been solved to this day.
Although more than a century has passed since the crime, the German authorities were unable to reach the killer, and the case became the most perplexing mystery in Germany, according to a report by the British newspaper “The Sun”, Saturday.
It took many decades before what appeared to be the tip of a thread that might lead to the unveiling of the truth emerged, but this belief quickly dissipated.
Here, we are talking about a phone call in 1999, which the security authorities received from an elderly woman, and the call did not lead to anything.
In 2007, a group of students tried to uncover the killer using technology, but they kept the name a secret.
There were many theories about the perpetrators of this crime, but they did not reach a definitive answer, and the German police did not arrest anyone in connection with the crime.
scary clues
Andreas Gruber, 63, and his wife Cassilia, 72, and their daughter Victoria, 35, and her two-year-old son, Cassilia, Joseph, were killed on their farm near Munich, and a maid was also killed in the crime.
Neighbors found the bodies four days later, as granddaughter Cassilia missed school and piled up letters in the family box.
And when the police began the investigation, the case took a dangerous turn, when evidence emerged indicating that the killer had hid in the attic of the house before committing the crime.
Days before the crime, Andreas found a newspaper he hadn’t bought herself.
He reported to the neighbors that he had seen new trails leading into the house in the snow, when he had not yet left.
ax killing
And on that evening the 31st of March, the family members were lured into the barn, where they were slashed at the necks with an axe, and the little Joseph was horribly murdered in his bed.
What increases the horror in the story is that the former maid who was working in the house resigned, and said that she felt that “the house is haunted” after what she said were strange sounds she heard, but the servant did not escape death, as she was also killed.
The security authorities believe that some of the victims were lured to the barn, where they were killed one by one with the axe.
The investigators concluded that the young woman, Cassilia, survived for several hours inside the barn, where she was subjected to torture such as having her hair removed from her body.
Investigators said that the killer cut off all the heads of the victims, and after the crime was discovered, the heads were sent to a fortune teller in Munich, who failed to reach a significant result, and what added to the strangeness of the matter was that these parts mysteriously disappeared.
There were rumors of an incestuous relationship between Andreas and his daughter Victoria.
To this day, the case is considered one of the oldest unsolved mysteries in Germany, despite the fact that an elderly woman called the police in 1999.
The investigation was hindered when the neighbors entered the house, due to the neighbors entering it, as it is believed that vital evidence was lost there.
The police believed that the crime was a robbery that developed into a mass murder, but they found a large amount of money untouched.
It turns out that the killer remained for some time after the crime, and coldly eats and feeds the cattle.
