Mohamed Salah wins the award for the best player in the English Premier League… the most important individual title
The Professional Footballers Association in England announced today, Thursday, that the Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah, won the award for the best player in the English Premier League during the 2021-2022 season.
This is the second time that the Liverpool player has won the most important individual title in the English Premier League, and it is the culmination of the Egyptian star’s efforts with his team this year, despite his failure to win major trophies with the Reds or the Pharaohs.
With this title, Salah’s total individual titles rise to 59 titles since he joined Liverpool 5 years ago, including the individual titles he won in international competitions in Africa, and according to the statistics of the “In the Joule” website, Salah has played since that time 254 games, and scored 156 goals, 63 assists, and won 6 championships.
The Egyptian striker beat Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo, Tottenham striker Harry Kane and his playmaker Heung Min Son, and also beat his Liverpool rivals Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk.
Salah scored 23 goals in the English Premier League and contributed 13 assists, and that was enough for him to win the Golden Boot in the Premier League with Sun, along with the title of playmaker of the season.
While Salah’s efforts helped Liverpool win the FA Cup and the League Cup, the Reds lost the league title by one point to City in the final minutes of the competition, as Real Madrid beat them in the Champions League final and deprived them of the seventh title of the tournament.
Salah’s season was full of other disappointments as well, as the Pharaohs team lost the final of the African Nations Championship on penalties to Senegal, the same team that defeated the Egyptians again and also on penalties less than two months later, to prevent them from qualifying for the World Cup finals.
However, Salah’s impressive performance in this exceptional season was convincing enough to win titles. In addition to the above-mentioned awards, the Egyptian star was named the best player from the Football Writers Association in England, from fans, and from Liverpool FC, as well as his goal against Manchester City during the first round of the League Championship, the title of “best” as well.
