Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he “cannot let NATO expand in the current circumstances.”

In a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro, Erdogan commented on the membership of Sweden and Finland in NATO, saying: “The alliance is a security organization and not an organization that supports terrorism,” noting that “we have gone through a bitter experience with France and Greece and we do not want to repeat it with Sweden and Finland.” .

He added, “As long as the interview with terrorist leaders is broadcast on Swedish state television, we cannot tell them please, get into NATO, and the same applies to Finland.”
