The twentieth gay pride march in Israel took place in the streets of occupied Jerusalem, Thursday evening.
And Hebrew media reported that about 7,000 people are participating in the “gay march”, which was launched a short while ago in the city of Jerusalem for the first time, since the inauguration of these marches twenty years ago.
And the 13th Hebrew channel reported, Thursday evening, that more than 700 people participated in the gay march, which began a short time ago, in the streets of West Jerusalem, with the wide participation of Israeli officials, led by the Speaker of the Knesset, Mickey Levy.

And the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth indicated that Levy will deliver a speech at a gay march in Jerusalem, to be the first speaker of the Knesset to participate in such an event.
In turn, the Israeli police said in a statement that thousands of its members will be deployed to secure the march in the gathering areas and nearby streets.
“The police will allow a planned (anti-march) protest to be held nearby while securing participants, preventing friction and preserving freedom of expression and protest as a matter of law,” she added.

The march, when opened by the ambassadors of Canada and the Netherlands, will start from “Bell Garden” in West Jerusalem at three in the afternoon, after performing “the road prayer” (a prayer performed by Jews before traveling), then it will move through “King David Street”, “Bloomer Square” and “Street”. King George” to “Paris Square”, all the way to “Independence Garden”, where artistic performances will be held.
Transport Minister Merav Michaeli, Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz and Social Equality Minister Merav Cohen are scheduled to speak in front of the march before it begins at Bell Park.
Most religious Jews in Israel and Jerusalem in particular oppose the march. In 2015, an Israeli woman was killed and 6 others wounded in a knife attack by an ultra-Orthodox Jew against participants in the gay parade.
And last Sunday, the city of Jerusalem witnessed the “Flags March”, with the participation of about 20,000 Israelis, which toured a number of areas in East Jerusalem and witnessed confrontations between extremist Israelis and Palestinians.
