Moscow begins granting Russian citizenship with simplified procedures to orphans from Donbass and Ukraine

Today, Tuesday, the Russian Ministry of the Interior announced that the regional bodies of the Ministry have started granting Russian citizenship with a simplified procedure to orphans from the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and Ukraine.
“The territorial bodies of the Russian Interior Ministry began to implement the decree of the Russian President, signed on May 30, 2022, which provides for facilitating the granting of Russian citizenship within 3 months to orphans and children, who have become without parental care and disabled people,” the statement said. From the republics of Donetsk, Lugansk and Ukraine, and the simplified procedure applies regardless of their location, whether inside or outside the Russian territory.
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree facilitating the procedures for obtaining a Russian passport for the people of Zaporizhia and Kherson regions in southern Ukraine.

In addition, the Russian armed forces have continued, since February 24, to carry out a special military operation to protect the Donbass region, southeast of Ukraine.
On March 25, the Russian Armed Forces completed the main tasks of the first phase of the special military operation in Ukraine; It significantly limited the capabilities and combat capabilities of the Ukrainian forces.
