The Triangle of Grief wins the Palme d’Or at Cannes

Swedish director Robin Ostlund’s social satire “The Triangle of Sorrow” won the Palme d’Or at the 75th Cannes Film Festival on Saturday.

The jury of the festival also chose Korean star Song Kang-ho, as the best actor for his performance in the film “Broker” by Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda.

The story of the film revolves around a Korean family looking for a family for a child abandoned by his parents.

The Best Actress award went to Iranian actress Zare Amir Ebrahimi for her performance as a journalist in Ali Abbasi’s “Holly Spider,” a thriller about the true crime of a killer targeting prostitutes in Mashhad.

The film was not allowed to be filmed in Iran, and was instead filmed in Jordan.

Upon receiving the award, Ebrahimi said that the film depicted “everything that is impossible to show in Iran.”

A nine-member jury selected the awardees, headed by French actor Vincent Lyndon.
