The American “Time” magazine has chosen the South Korean girl group “Aespa” as the “Leaders of the Next Generation”.
It is a list chosen by the magazine since 2014 and includes trendsetters “who are leading the way to a brighter future”.
The magazine described aespa as “an experiment that could be the next step in the music industry, a new way of connecting the real and the virtual worlds.”
The band debuted in November 2020, under the management of “SM Entertainment”, with a unique idea based on “Metaverse” technology. The four-member band became famous for its first single “Black Mamba”, after which it released the songs “Next Level” and “Savage”. .
The magazine noted the global success of the group “aespa” through its track record, as the band’s first mini-album “Savage” ranked 20th on the Billboard 200, the highest rating of any K-pop album for girls. The music video for her debut single “Black Mamba” has surpassed 100 million views, in less time than any K-pop debut song.
And last April, the band became the first K-pop girl group to perform on the main stage at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the largest outdoor music festival in the United States.
