The Arabi Opera Troupe is reproducing the famous Egyptian artistic heritage of Ramadan in serials and radio and television programs in a new musical form on the stage, in an indication of the continued attractiveness of these works among new generations despite the passage of many years since their appearance.

The current month of Ramadan witnesses great interest in watching works; Such as “One Thousand and One Nights”, “Fatouta”, “Boji and Tamtam”, and the famous old Ramadan series on TV channels that rebroadcast these works, in line with the so-called “nostalgia” (nostalgia for the past), and the group “Arabi Opera” chose Replay it on stage.

The band was founded by 25 actors, dancers and singers in the coastal city of Alexandria, northwest of Egypt.

The director and coach of the band, Mohamed Mustafa, told Sky News Arabia that “Opera Arabi” is the first Arab theater group to present dramas and radio works in a new musical arrangement, and through theatre.

He added, “The band started with a small group of young people, and I trained them in all performing arts, so that everyone participates in singing, acting and showing, and after a year of hard training, we came out to the light, and we presented shows that met with great success.”

Regarding the choice of the name “Arab Opera”, Mostafa says: “We chose it because we present dramas in a musical show framework. With a showy side and modern music.”

So far, the band presented the works of “The Great Night” and “Hatshepsut”, and it became affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, along with the ministry’s bands for folk arts and Arabic music.

According to the artist, Mohamed Yousry, one of the band members, it: “It carries an artistic message, which is to preserve our artistic heritage, especially associated with the month of Ramadan, including the most famous songs of Ramadan dramas, such as the songs of the series “Arabesque”, “The Morning and Evening Talk” and “One Thousand and One Nights.” And the songs of the “Hidden Camera” and “A Very Frank Dialogue” programs, in addition to the songs of the month of Ramadan, such as “Ramadan Jana”, and “By God, it is still early, oh the month of fasting”, and we conclude all our shows with “Al-Masharati” written by the poet Fouad Haddad and composed by Sayed Irons”.
