Qatar affirmed that its position on the Palestinian issue is consistent and does not change, noting that it supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
According to the Qatari newspaper Al Sharq newspaper, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani affirmed his country’s firm position and support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Al-Thani pointed out that the first of these rights is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Qatari Foreign Minister’s assertions came during two phone calls that Al-Thani had with Hussein Al-Sheikh, head of the Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs, member of the Central Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and Ayman Al-Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the two calls, Al Thani discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, especially after the Israeli attacks on the Temple Mount in the past few days.
The Qatari foreign minister affirmed his country’s rejection of “all the escalatory measures taken by the Israeli occupation forces,” calling for “the need to work on calm and reduce escalation and tension.”
