Elephant kills researcher “in the ugliest way”

In a tragic accident, a Colombian researcher who was working for an American university was killed, Sunday, after he was “run over” by an elephant.

The authority responsible for the national parks in the African country announced on Monday that the accident occurred in Kibale National Park in western Uganda.

Sebastian Ramirez Amaya, a researcher at Arizona State University, was present with another researcher and guide at the park known for its diversity of wildlife and its research center.
And the authority said in a statement, that the group members “ran across an elephant that was alone and then attacked them, which prompted them to run in different directions. The elephant chased Sebastian and ran over him, which led to his death.”

“We have not seen such incidents in the last 50 years of forest research in Kibale National Park,” she added.
