Mass shootings in Sacramento: Six dead, 10 wounded in California gun attack

Six people were killed and 10 injured in an early morning mass shooting in the California state capital.

Police are searching for at least one gunman in connection with the killings in the downtown Sacramento area, which is filled with restaurants and bars, around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Officers were on patrol when they heard gunfire, according to city police chief Cathy Lister.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found a large crowd gathered in the street and six people were killed.

No details were disclosed about the victims.

Another 10 people self-transmitted or taken to hospital, but there was no information on their condition.

Investigators do not know if one or more suspects were involved and have appealed to the public for help identifying those responsible, including anyone with recordings of the shootings.

Leader Lister, who did not give details of the type of gun used, described it as “a very complex and complex sight”.

It happened near the Golden 1 Center, an arena where the Sacramento Kings basketball team and concerts, she said.
Shortly after the shooting, a video of people running in the street and the sounds of rapid gunfire was posted on Twitter.

Video footage also showed a number of ambulances at the scene.

Sacramento Mayor Daryl Steinberg wrote on Twitter: “Words cannot express my sadness and shock this morning.

It is difficult to understand the numbers of dead and wounded.

“We are waiting for more information about what exactly happened in this tragic accident,” he added.

He added, “The escalation of gun violence is the scourge of our city, our state and our nation, and I support all measures to reduce it.”

Perry Akios, a community activist, said he arrived shortly after the shooting.

He said: “The first thing I saw was like victims.

“I saw a young woman with blood on her body, a girl taking the glass out of her, and a little girl screaming: they killed my sister.”

Or she runs, ‘Where’s my son, is my son injured?’ .

The shooting comes just over a month after a man in the city shot and killed his three children and a fourth person before taking his own life.
