For the first time in three years, South Koreans will be able to enjoy the scent of cherry blossoms, after authorities in the South Korean capital decided to open the doors of their parks to the public, according to a statement from the Seoul City Council.

People in particular will be able to freely visit the sites of spring cherry blossoms in urban areas in Yindenfu, Sonfa-gu and Suzhou-gu, the most famous of which is a road in Yongdeungpo County, stretching from the bridge over the Hangang River to the Parliament Complex.

Several thousand sakura trees were planted along this path, which regularly attract hundreds of thousands of trekkers during the blooming period.

It is reported that this year, car traffic will be suspended from April 2 to April 10, so that people can move safely and enjoy the beautiful scenery. From March 25, a road with cherry trees was opened near Seokchonhoso Lake in Sunfa-gu District, after the place had been closed during the spring boom period since 2020 to avoid heavy crowds.

It is also pointed out that the places known for beautiful cherry blossoms along the Yangjiechun, Yichun and Banfuchun rivers in Suzhou-gu region usually open from March 30 to April 15, but the cultural activities that were traditional in the pre-epidemic period will not take place in all of these areas, due to The epidemiological situation is unstable, the Seoul Mayor’s Office notes.
