Actor Sean Penn calls on Hollywood to boycott the Oscars if Zelensky is denied speech

Sean Penn has called on Hollywood to boycott the Oscars if Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is denied the opportunity to speak at the red carpet event.

“I would encourage everyone involved to know, though it may be their moment, and I understand that to celebrate their films, it’s time to shine, protest and boycott the Oscars,” the controversial actor told CNN.

Sean Penn, who won two Oscars, has vowed to “smelt the Oscars in public” if the Academy refuses to give Zelensky a speech.

The Ukrainian leader held talks with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to appear on video during Sunday’s broadcast of the Oscars, while Ben met Zelensky while in Ukraine in February, when he was filming a documentary about the country’s tensions and now war with Russia.
