In the presence of a large crowd of artists from Arab and foreign countries, the “Morex d’Or” Festival Committee held the first session of the festival in Dubai, after twenty years of its stay in Beirut, under the slogan “A March of Success from Beirut to Dubai”.
The ceremony was held at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai, in cooperation with GC Media, which participated in the process of organizing the festival in its first session, and was attended by a group of media and social figures.
Speaking to “Sky News Arabia”, founder and chairman of the “Morex d’Or” festival, Zahi Helou, said: “After twenty years of success in Beirut, it was necessary to choose Dubai as our global destination.”
He added, “The jury includes 23 members from ten different Arab countries, and the festival must achieve greater popularity in the coming years.”
And some blame the festival for leaving his mother country Lebanon, he said: “The festival will remain in Lebanon, and in September of last year we held a course dedicated to Lebanon, but there is no objection to going global, especially in light of the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is experiencing.”
As for the founder and head of the Murex D’or Awards Committee, Fadi Helou, he told Sky News Arabia: “In this session, we are witnessing categories that we have not seen before, and they are categories specialized in Gulf art, such as the best Gulf series, the best Gulf film, and the best Gulf actor and actress. Arabi”.
He added, “The festival also includes tributes to the Turkish actor Ugur Güneş, and to the Croatian international cellist Hauser.”
