The Egyptian markets witnessed a new phenomenon in the past few days before the start of the holy month of Ramadan, as dates appeared with new names related to the Ukrainian crisis and the sanctions imposed on Moscow due to the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
The Egyptian “Al-Watan News” website mentioned the emergence of new names for dates in the Egyptian markets, launched by traders and related to the Russian-Ukrainian war, where “Putin” dates and “Biden” dates appeared in the Egyptian market.
According to the site, the cheapest dates are “Biden”, and the price of a pound is 12 Egyptian pounds per kilogram, in addition to dates called “NATO”, which is cheaper than “Biden”. As for the most expensive dates, they are called “Putin”, and their price is 35 pounds.
There are also “Sisi” dates in the Egyptian market, which have been out of competition for many years because they are “the best” ever, according to Egyptians. The price of a kilogram is 56 pounds.
