Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law allowing all residents of Ukraine to use weapons during martial law.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada voted unanimously to allow the civilian population to use any firearms during martial law in the country.
“The Ukrainian Parliament’s Law Enforcement Committee has just voted unanimously to significantly increase criminal liability for theft and pillage and lift all restrictions on the civilian population’s use of firearms to repel armed aggression by Russia or any other country during martial law,” the statement read.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said on his Facebook page last week that about 18,000 machine guns have already been distributed to Kyiv residents.
On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, with the aim of protecting people, who have been subjected to persecution and genocide by the Kyiv regime, for eight years,” said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
