Lions and tigers evacuated from Ukraine to a zoo in Poland

Today, Saturday, press reports said, 6 lions and 6 tigers were successfully evacuated from an area near the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, to a zoo in Poland, after a two-day trip.
And the “France 24” website quoted a spokeswoman for the park, Malgogata Chudela, as saying that a Ukrainian truck transported lions and tigers, as well as two wild cats and a wild dog, to the Polish border, located about 1,000 kilometers away.
She added that the delay was due to the truck having to stop overnight as a result of the ongoing battles.
She noted that the owner of the animals was feeding them because the transport team did not know how to do so.
At the border, the animals were transferred to a Polish truck, which in turn transported them to the “Poznan Zoo”.
Zoo director Eva Zgrabsinska, who helped organize the evacuation, said she was in contact with Western organizations wanting to house the animals.
According to the site, Zgrabczynska launched a fundraising campaign, because the Pozna city authorities responsible for managing the park do not have enough budget to take care of the evacuated animals.
