The South Korean company “Samsung” has addressed reports that it is throttling the performance of thousands of popular applications.
And Samsung announced that it will soon provide an update to the Game Optimization Service (GOS) program, which is responsible for throttling the performance of applications.
But Samsung did not specify an exact timetable for the release of the new update that addresses the problem.
“We appreciate the feedback we receive about our products, and after careful consideration, we plan to roll out a software update soon so users can control performance while running gaming apps,” company spokeswoman Kelly Yu said in a statement to The Verge.
Samsung’s response came in the wake of reports that its phones are throttling the performance of about 10,000 smart apps, by the Game Optimization Service (GOS) program, such as “Tik Tok” and “Instagram”, to preserve the life of Galaxy phones’ batteries.
“Our priority is to provide consumers with the best mobile experience, and Game Optimization Service (GOS) is designed to help gaming applications achieve great performance, while at the same time effectively managing device temperature,” Yu said.
Yu emphasized that GOS does not control the performance of non-game applications.
