Ukraine closes shipping in the northwestern region of the Black Sea

The Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have closed down navigation in the northwestern region of the Black Sea, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.

“In order to ensure the safety of civilian navigation, the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have closed down navigation in the northwestern Black Sea region,” the General Staff said on Facebook.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure warned, on Tuesday, that the country is preparing documents to prevent Russian ships from entering the country’s territorial waters and ports, as well as banning Ukrainian ships from entering Russian ports.

Earlier, the United Kingdom and Canada took the decision to ban Russian ships from entering their ports in connection with the situation in Ukraine.
