‘Uncharted’ tops the US box office

Sony Pictures’ Uncharted, starring Holland and Mark Wahlberg, topped ticket sales in its second weekend of release with $23.3 million, according to distributors estimates on Sunday.

Uncharted also performed well, dropping a modest 46% from its $44 million debut, and within two weeks it grossed $83.4 million in US and Canadian theaters.

Uncharted, a $120 million adventure feature film about a lost treasure, is also gaining popularity abroad as it approaches its mid-March China release.

Uncharted added $58.3 million overseas, bringing its total global sales to $226.4 million so far.

The film’s international sales include $46.7 million in two weeks in Russia.

In the wake of the blockbuster commercial activity of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, the success of Uncharted has instrumented the growing star power of the 25-year-old Holland.

“No Way Home”, which topped the box office six times in December and January, continues to be a hit in theaters.

This weekend, it took third place with $5.8 million, bringing it close to $800 million in domestic ticket sales.

The star power also kept the movie “Dog” starring Channing Tatim in second place.

The MGM-distributed film, which Tatim co-directed with Caroline Red, fell just 32% to $10.1 million in its second weekend of release.
