A fight between two tigers in eastern Russia results in the death of one of them

In the Lazo region of the Khabarovsk region in the Far East of Russia, the body of a young tiger was found, most likely, from wounds sustained in a fight between it and an older male tiger.

Experts based on preliminary data were able to recover an approximate picture of what happened in the forest near the village of (Yuzhny) in the Khabarovsk Territory.

The director general of the “Amur Tiger” center in the Russian Khabarovsk region, Sergey Aramelev, explained that young tigers, which enter the adult stage, often wander in the forest in search of an area where they can hunt other animals. Unfortunately, such tragedies can occur while wandering that a young tiger is injured in a duel with an older male dominating the area, killing the loser.

Experts have recorded the effects of the fight, including blood and a large amount of wool, which clearly indicates the causes of the tiger’s death. The size of the male’s largest foot, according to his footprints on the snow, was about 12.5 centimeters. It turned out that the abilities of the two tigers were unequal, and the winner left the area, while the loser remained after sustaining many injuries on the battlefield. A few days later he went out on the road where he died. The animal’s carcass was handed over for examination to the “Amur Tiger” center.

It is noteworthy that the Russian Far Eastern tigers have been included in the Red List of Extinct Animals.
